The History of Kalmar forklift

Kalmar Industries AB is a Swedish company focused on the production of vehicles for unloading and loading. The history of the manufacturer began in 1921. At first, the company operated under the name State Aircraft Factory, and over time it was renamed Valmet Ltd. In 1940, the first timber carrier appeared, and in 1949 the market was replenished with a loader. In the 1950s, the company produced the first port crane, opened a pre-sales support center and sold the first sawmill loader. In 1973, the manufacturer received the current name Kalmar, and since 1985, the serial production of reachstackers began. At the end of the 19th century, the developer focused on the creation of loaders and tractors, and in 2007 became part of the Kargotek holding. This is a logistics company that occupies one of the leading positions in the market of equipment for moving goods. Its annual income is 3-4 billion euros.

Every year, Kalmar sells equipment for 1.5-2 billion dollars. The number of staff is about 5000 people. In 2021, the company achieved the goal of producing all-electric vehicles, represented by a forklift, a reachstacker and a terminal tractor.

Structurally, Kalmar differs little from the products of other European companies. The machine consists of a mast, a chain and a hydraulic cylinder. There is a cabin on which a rear-view mirror and head lighting are installed for better visibility. Inside there is a comfortable operator's seat, instrument panel and controls. Of the structural elements, it is worth highlighting the counterweight, front and rear wheels, the hood and the hydraulic tilt cylinder. Mandatory elements are forks, a carriage and a protective grille. Kalmar forklifts have increased sensitivity, which guarantees accuracy and safety when unloading and loading the most complex cargo. They are equipped with Cummins and Volvo engines.

They have an electronic control system that allows you to smoothly change the speed of movement of the load. Kalmar machines are equipped with disc brakes for easy and reliable control. The motor, gearbox and drive shaft are combined into a common unit, which increases the performance of the vehicle. Thanks to the structure of the steering and driving axle, the machine can easily handle heavy loads.

Specialists have developed loaders that can work for many years without failure. The equipment is easy to maintain, and the service points are in the zone of direct access. The use of new equipment made it possible to increase the service interval up to 500 hours. During the warranty period, the work is performed by representatives of the company. Features: Improved cooling system with hydraulic fan. Eliminates overheating even when performing complex tasks. Comfortable driving position with many features. Curved and comfortable glass, guaranteeing good visibility. Ability to change the position of the steering wheel. Thoughtfully sized wheels for optimum ride comfort. Built-in control systems are designed to diagnose the machine and identify faults at an early stage. The equipment itself generates an error, and the operator needs to correct it, taking into account the manufacturer's recommendations. The available options allow you to control fuel consumption, adjust the speed of lifting / lowering the load and other characteristics.
