Dodge RAM Truck

Dodge is an American automobile manufacturer that manufactures passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. The company was founded in 1900 by the Dodge brothers and first produced automotive components, and since 1914 already their own cars. Dodge was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928, from 1997 to 2008 it was part of the DaimlerChrysler alliance, and since 2009 it has been part of Chrysler Group LLC.

Brothers John Dodge and Horace Dodge have been drawn to technology since childhood. With age, their interests did not change, and in 1896 Horace received the first patent in his life: he invented a bicycle hub with ball bearings. And in 1897, in Detroit, they opened their own bicycle factory, Ivens-Dodge.

Dodge's spruce relationship with Henry Ford was soon terminated. It was then that the Dodge brothers decided to start their own car company. This decision shocked the entire automotive market, of course, the famous Dodges, suppliers of high-quality engines, will produce cars themselves. Production has not yet begun, and already twenty-two thousand stores have sent requests for the delivery of cars to the brothers.

By 1920, Dodge was the second largest car manufacturer after Ford, but unfortunately, both brothers did not have time to enjoy the success of their company, in the same 1920 both brothers died. Horace caught pneumonia and was bedridden. The best doctors in America fought over his recovery, but neither their pills nor Dodge's advice could help - he died on January 14. And after 11 months, on December 10, 1929, John also died - from cirrhosis of the liver. Stupid that Horace had never had a cold before, and John had never taken a drink.

In 1984, the Dodge Caravan minivan was released with front-wheel drive and a transversely placed engine, which made a splash at that time. The concept of the car was so simple and practical that this model was to the taste of a large number of motorists. In European countries, the car was imported as Chrysler Voyager. This model is the most frequently purchased car along with the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The creation of the Dodge Viper began in 1989. The prototype, shown at the Detroit Auto Show the same year, created a huge sensation. The development was completed two years later. The production of this model was a sign that Chrysler is ready to take an active part in motorsport. In 2000, a prototype Viper GTS / R was presented in Detroit with engines of 500 hp, capable of speeds up to 320 km / h.

Chrysler's introduction of the Dodge Intrepid in 1992 changed the way American cars were viewed. A design change a few years later made it different from the Concord.

The Dakota pickup was also very popular with buyers - the owner of the title of "sports truck of the year", received by him in 1996. In 1997, the second generation of this model, developed on a rigid spar frame, was launched into production.

To withstand the growing competition, many global automakers began to unite. In 1998, Dodge, as a result of the merger of Chrysler with Daimler-Benz, became part of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation. Dodge cars began to be positioned as more affordable than cars from other brands of the concern, as well as powerful and sporty. The model range of the company was completely updated.

As of 1999, the company produced more than 1.5 million Dodge vehicles, of which approximately 1 million are Neon, Stratus, Avenger, Intrepid, Caravan, Durango and Viper models.

In 2002, the third generation Dodge Ram pickup was presented. The design of the car was a real discovery. To date, it is called the most attractive and stylish pickup truck.

The Dodge brand continues to strengthen its position in the international market. At the autumn motor show in Frankfurt in 2005, in addition to production models, the brand also presented a concept car called the Dodge Hornet. In March 2006, the European premiere of the Dodge Caliber took place in Geneva.

In 2007, the Dodge lineup is replenished with new models: the Dodge Avenger D-segment sedan and the Dodge Nitro SUV with aggressive design and impressive dynamics.

In the fall of 2008, Dodge introduced another novelty - the Dodge Journey crossover, available in two versions - 5- and 7-seater, and with great interior transformation capabilities.

In 2009, Chrysler Group LLC was formed based on a global strategic alliance with Fiat Group, and produces cars and products under the brands Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge and Mopar®.

Now with the resources, technology and global distribution network needed to operate effectively on a global scale, the alliance draws on the innovation experience of the Chrysler Group LLC, pioneered by Walter Chrysler in 1925, and the modern technology of the Italian automaker Fiat.
